Whether you’re learning about gender/sexuality for the first time, questioning your identity, or feel like you know what’s going on, you deserve to feel supported and have the tools you need to take care of your mental health.

If you feel like you’re looking for resources that don’t require you to have to explain your gender, sexuality, or identity, there’s a lot of LGBTQ+ support out there!

LGBTQ+ Guides:

  • The Coming Out Handbook is a fantastic, comprehensive guide to all the questions and resources you might need to figure out your current sexuality/gender and resources for how share your identity with those around you.

LGBTQ+ Resources:

  • RECLAIM! has a fantastic list of resources for queer and trans youth including suggestions for mental healthcare clinics, shot clinics, substance abuse and recovery programs, housing, education, and family support.

  • Family Tree Clinic and JustUsHealth are two Twin Cities-based providers that offer behavioral health + resource support for the LGBTQ+ community

  • The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth, including a 24/7 hotline and textline.

  • The Trans Linelife also offers a space for the trans community to reach out for mental health support and also has a program where they can connect you with a mom who you can talk to if you want a supportive parental figure to talk to.

  • TIGERRS is a Minnesota program designed to support trans/intersex/gender-expansive folks. They have LGBTQ+ social support groups for kids under 12 and teens 13-18 as well as a wide variety of resources!

  • TrevorSpace connects LGBTQ youth to peer support and community through online forums, hosted by the Trevor Project. Must be 13-24, must provide email address to join.

  • The Bridge for Youth is for LGBTQ youth aged 10 to 17 who are experiencing homelessness. They also offer support groups for LGBTQ youth looking to connect and get support.

  • OutFront Minnesota community-based LGBTQ rights organization. Their justice team provides peer support and mentoring to trans people. They also provide legal services for trans individuals, including legal guidance in cases of discrimination.

  • GLBT Near Me helps you find resources near you that are LGBTQ+ oriented.

  • Free Mom Hugs offers LGBTQ+ resources, emergency assistance, name change support, and same sex marriage support.
